In Rio de Janeiro, Mercedes, a woman in her forties, goes to the psychoanalyst and recounts the story of her life since she was a girl and lost her mother. Across three years of analysis, her life changes: she divorces her husband Gustavo and has love affairs with the younger Theo (Reynaldo Gianecchini).
