Jodorowsky's Dune
In 1974, Chilean-French director Alejandro Jodorowsky set out on the quixotic quest to adapt Frank Herbert's influential novel Dune (1969) for the big screen. After two years and millions of dollars were invested, the colossal project ended in failure; yet the artists Jodorowsky assembled to carry it out continued to collaborate, ultimately laying the foundations for modern science fiction cinema.
