Let There Be Light

The final entry in a trilogy of government-produced films by John Huston, this picture follows returning combat veterans whose scars are largely psychological rather than physical. It traces patients and staff through their treatment, addressing what we would now call PTSD, though at the time it was categorized as psychoneurosis or shell-shock. Government officials deemed the 1946 film counterproductive to postwar efforts, and it was not publicly shown until 1981.
