Longing
Set amid Partition, independent India’s first hockey team defeats England, their erstwhile coloniser, to claim the Gold at the 1948 London Games. Six decades later, Nandy Singh, a member of that famed squad, suffers a stroke, and his determined battle to recover prompts his daughter to retrace his path. Through archival footage and conversations with teammates, the film unveils lives remade by Olympic triumph and by Partition, which forced many into refugeehood. It also brings to light a friend in Pakistan never spoken of before. Her quest to find him evolves into a voyage for the lost watan - a homeland rediscovered.
