Hiyori Makino, a zealous rookie detective, is devoted to her investigations. One day, an online clip surfaces showing a person set aflame, prompting investigators to suspect a copycat murder tied to a case from five years ago. To unravel the mystery, Hiyori seeks out former detective Soichiro Natsume, who led the original investigation five years ago. Natsume resides in a shared house that exclusively accommodates ex-police officers.
