Mei no Mei
Following the sudden death of his elder sister and her husband in an accident, 32-year-old Ozu moves from Tokyo to Fukushima to care for his 12-year-old niece Mei during the summer vacation. He possesses a contemporary outlook yet moves through life with a certain lethargy. In Fukushima, he encounters local residents who pursue recovery from the Great East Japan Earthquake with unwavering optimism, as well as immigrants who have arrived from outside the prefecture to pursue their ambitions. Living alongside his artistic niece, their bond deepens, and through his interactions with Mei and the people of Fukushima, he undergoes a personal transformation and grows as a person.
