Melinda and Melinda
During a dinner with friends, Sy muses on the thorny line between comedy and tragedy. To prove his point, he recounts two parallel stories about Melinda. Both narratives share the same core elements, yet one presents her situation with levity while the other delves into anguish. In each tale, Melinda copes with a recent divorce through substance abuse as she begins a romantic relationship with a close friend's husband.
