Middle of Nowhere

Kakuma, literally meaning 'middle of nowhere', is the birthplace of Mo Jabari, a refugee who grew up in a Kenyan camp where survival was a daily reality rather than a metaphor. He arrives in Canada with almost nothing recognizable except the visceral image of men fighting on a television screen. Middle of Nowhere follows Jabari through the unglamorous realm of Canadian independent wrestling—no guarantees, no safety net, and no one coming to help if you get hurt today. In a business built on manufactured spectacle, his answer is concise and resolute: "I don't have to be a gimmick. I just gotta be me."
