Moll Flanders
Born to a thief, young Moll is placed in the care of a nunnery after her mother's execution. The cruelty of an abusive priest drives her to rebellion as a teenager, prompting an escape to the dangerous streets of London. A string of misfortunes compels her to accept work as a prostitute from the conniving Mrs. Allworthy. It is there that Moll first encounters Hibble, Allworthy's servant, who takes a special interest in her welfare. With his help, she clings to hope for the future, and ultimately falls in love with an unconventional artist who promises the possibility of romantic happiness.
