Mr. Lucky
Mr. Lucky is a CBS adventure‑drama television series that aired from October 24, 1959, to June 18, 1960, with reruns through September 3. Blake Edwards crafted the program as a reimagining of his Willie Dante persona from Four Star Playhouse, where the role was brought to life by studio head Dick Powell. In the 1960–1961 season, Howard Duff assumed the Willie Dante role in the NBC adventure/drama series Dante. Edwards directed and co‑wrote the premiere episode, and the credits for the first eighteen installments note that the entire production was supervised by Edwards. Jack Arnold produced the show and directed fifteen of its thirty‑four episodes. Henry Mancini's smooth theme music for the series climbed to No. 21 on the U.S. singles chart, and he released two successful LPs drawn from the program: Mr. Lucky and Mr. Lucky Goes Latin.
