Renowned cabaret chanteuse Alicia Conde is set to wed Octavio and retire from the stage, but Octavio's gambling spree drains the family's fortune within months. Determined to return to her art, Alicia goes back to the cabaret to sing again. Don Lalo, the venue's owner, desires her as his lover, a pursuit Elena—Lalo's girlfriend—learns of. She kills Lalo and convinces the public and the police of Alicia's guilt. While imprisoned, Alicia must prove her innocence, and the sole evidence is a VHS recording of the murder, which was stolen from Elena by her ex-lover. Through beatings, humiliation, and drug use, Alicia pushes forward until she confronts Elena and her ex-lover to obtain the proof of her innocence.
