Samuel Salomon, a literature professor, has been on leave for nearly a year following the death of his girlfriend. He is plagued by a recurring nightmare in which a woman is brutally murdered in a peculiar ritual. The very same woman who haunts his dreams is found dead in identical fashion. He infiltrates the crime scene and encounters Rachel, who has also dreamed of the murder. Together they will stop at nothing to uncover the identity of the enigmatic woman, venturing into a chilling realm dominated by the Muses—the archetypal figures that have inspired artists across time.
