Set against the dawn of the silent era, attorney Leo Harrigan and gunslinger Buck Greenway are hired to stop an illegal film production. Soon they join forces with the filmmakers and become influential players in the show business industry. Leo discovers a natural talent for directing, while Buck's rugged cowboy persona quickly earns him leading-man status. But both men fall for the radiant starlet Kathleen Cooke, fueling a heated personal rivalry.
