In the United States, at least two successful predictions have already been achieved, and the NOVA crew was on site filming as a third prediction was being formulated. NOVA examines why earthquakes occur, how predictions are made, the threat they pose to cities at risk, and weighs the advantages and disadvantages of making an earthquake a predictable disaster.
