Season 41

NOVA opens the fall season with a return to Ground Zero to chronicle the closing act of a landmark saga in engineering, innovation, and human resilience. Ground Zero Supertower surveys the ascent of One World Trade Center, the towering milestone that rises 104 stories and reaches 1,776 feet on the footprint of the former Twin Towers. The program also descends underground to illuminate another feat of construction: the National September 11 Memorial Museum, destined to house nearly a thousand artifacts from that day. Building on NOVA's Emmy-nominated special Engineering Ground Zero, which granted rare access to the engineers and architects shaping 1 WTC and the 9/11 Memorial, this update follows the tower’s final levels and the installation of its dramatic 408-foot spire and beacon.
