Partisan

On the fringe of a crumbling city, 11-year-old Alexander lives in a secluded commune with other children, their mothers, and their magnetic leader, Gregori. Gregori instructs the children in tending livestock, cultivating vegetables, and living as a community—and, chillingly, in killing. When the birth of a newborn brother weighs on him, Alexander begins to challenge Gregori’s dominion over the children and their training to become assassins. As his reluctance to toe the line grows, Gregori’s behavior becomes unstable and confrontational toward the boy he once treated as a son. With the two at odds and the commune’s way of life unraveling, residents fear a violent conclusion is looming.
