Pigalle

In a bleak underworld of prostitution, drug dens, transvestites, and addicts bound by danger and murder, this tragedy probes the darkest corners of urban life. The film follows four interconnected lives as they navigate their harsh, nocturnal existence on the city’s streets. The principal players are Fifi, a pickpocket who is also entangled with Divine, a transvestite sex worker, and Vera, a peep-show dancer who will not become a prostitute. Vera shares a dwelling with her would-be pimp, Jesus le Gitan, a small-time drug dealer. When the area’s underworld factions erupt into conflict, two of the central figures are slowly killed in brutal fashion. Fifi is left to seek vengeance for their deaths.
