In a fictional documentary, the narrative unfolds amid overcrowded U.S. prisons as President Nixon declares a state of emergency. New inmates, many linked to the antiwar movement, face a stark choice: jail time or three days in Punishment Park, where they are hunted for sport by federal authorities. The prisoners almost invariably choose Punishment Park, only to learn that the desert heat and brutal police officers sharply diminish their chances of survival.
