Remington Steele

Laura Holt, a licensed private investigator who launches her own detective agency, encounters a barrier: clients refuse to hire a woman, no matter how qualified. To counter this prejudice, she creates a fictitious male superior named Remington Steele. In the pilot episode, 'License to Steele,' a former thief and con man, whose real name is never revealed, assumes the identity of Remington Steele. Throughout, Laura remains firmly in charge behind the scenes.
