Beneath Brighton’s derelict West Pier, the body of a young woman is discovered. Joshua Penny, a postgraduate student, returns home to hunt down the killer of his mother, who witnessed the first murder. His sole lead is a snake-and-dagger tattoo on the murderer’s arm.
