Season one unfolds in 52 B.C. as Gaius Julius Caesar completes his campaign in Gaul after eight years of war and readies to march his army back to Rome. While Caesar's self-serving niece Atia and his long-lost lover Servilia anxiously await his return, Rome's patrician elite fear that his homecoming will upend the established order. As Caesar's legions advance toward the capital, loyalties are tested among soldiers and civilians alike, and the mounting tension culminates in a full-scale conflict that will alter the course of history.
