Season five opens with two lives hanging in the balance as Officers Sam Swarek and Chloe Price are shot in the line of duty and linger in critical condition, while life at 15 Division must carry on. As the shell-shocked squad tries to put the pieces of their lives back together, they wonder whether things will ever unfold the way they should. This is a season of life-altering choices, and with Andy torn between Sam and Nick, she embraces the professional distraction of training a demanding new rookie, only to learn that sometimes even making the right choice can have serious consequences.
