Salomé
Following the sensually charged Dance of the Seven Veils and Herod's solemn pledge that she may have whatever she desires, up to half his kingdom, the wanton and proud Salomé comes before the king with an audacious demand. Beguiled by John the Baptist and then spurned for the sake of his God, the lascivious Salomé—encouraged by her vindictive mother, Herodias—commands that John be executed and that his head be delivered on a silver platter.
