Schindler Space Architect
Biographical portrait of architect R.M. Schindler, who redefined how we perceive space and laid the groundwork for the California indoor-outdoor lifestyle. His life story (1887-1953) unfolds in parallel with Modern Architecture. The film traces Schindler's journey from Vienna through Chicago to Southern California, observed where possible through the lens of his own camera or heard in his own words. The narrative is conveyed through narration, interviews, Schindler's theoretical writings, correspondence, photographs, and renderings of his numerous works and projects.
