During the final bout of a martial-arts tournament, 16-year-old Shurato and his friend Gai are swept into a colossal ball of light. When they regain awareness, they wake inside a mystic celestial realm suffused with a divine aura. It soon emerges that Shurato had once been the ruling king of this world, and he has been restored to his original station. Shurato is left stunned as Gai suddenly turns against him. What follows is a spectacular and fantastical drama that unfolds between the two.
