Sledge Hammer!
Sledge Hammer! is an American satirical police sitcom produced by New World Television that aired for two seasons on ABC from 1986 to 1988. Created by Alan Spencer, the series stars David Rasche as Inspector Sledge Hammer, a wildly exaggerated spoof of the conventional 'cop on the edge' archetype. Writers Al Jean and Mike Reiss, renowned for their work on The Simpsons, contributed to the show as writers and served as story editors.

Yeah, this was really more of a comedy. And it was a comedy that mocked all of the detective and tough cop shows and movies that were popular in the 70s and 80s. In fact, it did such a great job spoofing all of them, hitting all the tropes with exaggeratedly hysterical accuracy that I kind of think that maybe Sledge Hammer! is the reason that we don't see that many shows like that any longer. Anyway, the word "hilarious" comes up a lot in the reviews and for good reason. It was brilliant and too short lived.
