Sugar Rush
Emmy Award–winning British television comedy-drama series developed by Shine Limited and broadcast on Channel 4, adapted from Julie Burchill's novel of the same name. It tracks the trials and tribulations of teenager Kim Daniels as she navigates the usual adolescent upheavals—plus one: she suspects she might be gay. Her family has recently relocated from London to Brighton, where she develops a powerful crush on her new best friend, Maria 'Sugar' Sweet. Sugar harbors a wild streak and frequently drags Kim into scrapes, though Kim can get into trouble all on her own as well. Despite attractions to other girls and a few flirtations with boys, Kim's heart keeps returning to Sugar.
