Ta sjansen
Ta sjansen stood as a beloved Norwegian television staple on NRK from 1983 to 2002, a carefree summer spectacle filmed outdoors atop the Homenkollen ski jump in Oslo. Each year, contestants faced two signature, lighthearted races that were as chaotic as they were inventive: homemade boats racing down a steep ramp into the water, and creatively designed bicycles racing on floating docks. Participants wore humorous costumes and engineered wildly imaginative contraptions, turning the program into a hybrid of game show, variety show, and slapstick comedy. The show was renowned for its fun, festive atmosphere and became a cherished summer tradition across Norway. Although not formally competitive, prizes were awarded to winners, with the emphasis always on entertainment rather than serious sporting conduct.
