Take a Giant Step

After African-American teenager Spence Scott is expelled from his private school for arguing with a teacher, he seeks guidance from his grandmother. Living in a genteel white enclave with predominantly white friends, he feels like an outsider. He visits a bar in a black neighborhood, where he meets a few prostitutes, a turn that offers little relief. Ultimately, Spence forms a friendship with the housekeeper Christine, who shares her own difficult story.
