The Angry Video Game Nerd is an adult web television series created by and starring James Rolfe, presenting comedic retro gaming video reviews. The format centers on his commentary and critique of older games that are widely regarded as low-quality, unfairly difficult, or poorly designed. The series began as a feature on YouTube and later aired on ScrewAttack Entertainment before moving to GameTrailers exclusively. To avoid trademark issues with Nintendo—and as he started reviewing games from non-Nintendo consoles such as those made by Atari and Sega—the program was renamed The Angry Video Game Nerd.
