The Artist Who Disappeared
On the remote Scottish isle of Papa Westray, artist Sergei Ivanov and his partner Tezman Chan relocate to launch an International Arts Festival, attracting an eclectic mix of artists, performers, and musicians from as far afield as Japan and the USA. As the festival approaches its seventh year, they invite their friend and filmmaker David Kew to document their extraordinary life on the island. But three months into filming, Sergei vanishes without a trace on Papa Westray, compelling the filmmaker to embark on a profound journey of discovery and contemplation. Through interviews with those left behind, each in their own way, the film pursues meaning behind Sergei's disappearance. The narrative then gravitates toward Iszman, who, grappling with grief, endeavors to craft an elegiac and moving tribute to Sergei on the island.
