The Bear Dodger
Created by Noburo Ofuji, a veteran of cartoon-making since the 1920s and often employing decorative paper cutouts. The character animation appears as though it could have been produced fifteen years earlier, yet many elements remain distinctly original—design (notably those trees) and the deft use of camera focus. The work is heavily musical, recalling the earliest use of sound in animation. The lesson here is: 'If you can't count on your friends, travel alone.'
