The Cement Garden

Following the death of her husband, the mother of Julie, Jack, Sue and Tom falls gravely ill with a mysterious ailment. Realizing she will soon enter hospital, she establishes a bank account for her children to secure their financial independence and spare them from being taken into care by the authorities. Yet she passes away, and Julie and Jack, the elder siblings, decide to conceal her body in the basement to retain control over their home. Before long, Tom begins dressing as a girl, while Sue becomes increasingly withdrawn, speaking only to her diary; at the same time, Jack and Julie sense a growing attraction between them. Julie's new boyfriend, Derek, threatens to uncover the family's many dark secrets as his suspicions about Jack deepen.
