The House on the Slope

Yamazaki Risako lives with her husband Yoichiro and their 3-year-old daughter Fumika. One day, she receives a court notification informing her that she has been chosen as an alternate juror for a shocking criminal case. The defendant is Ando Mizuho, a full-time housewife who is the same age as Risako. She stands trial for the death of her 8-month-old daughter by dropping her into the bathtub. As a mother herself, Risako feels repulsed by the notion of a mother killing her child. However, once the trial opens, Mizuho’s circumstances remind Risako of her own past, and she becomes confused by the chaotic feelings that have lain dormant inside her.
