The Invisible Guardian

When the naked body of a teenage girl is found along the banks of the River Baztán, investigators quickly link it to a murder that occurred a month earlier. Rumors cascade through the nearby village of Elizondo. Is the killer driven by ritualistic motive, or could it be the basajaun, the invisible guardian of Basque mythology? Inspector Amaia Salazar leads the inquiry, returning to the Basque homeland where she was born and where she once hoped never to return. Shrouded in mist and encircled by impenetrable forests, the region holds long-buried conflicts and a terrible secret from Amaia’s childhood that will rise to confront her.
