The Mafia Dolls

Las Muñecas De La Mafia is a 2009 Colombian telenovela produced by BE-TV and broadcast on Caracol TV. It is based on the book "Las Fantásticas" by Juan Camilo Ferrand and Andres Lopez, who also wrote the series scripts. It was slated to premiere on Telefutura Network and debuted on May 3, 2010 following the Vecinos finale; the show concluded in July 2010 in the United States. The narrative follows Brenda, Olivia, Violeta, Renata, and Pamela as they become entangled with mafia figures from El Carmen in Colombia, drawing them into peril and ultimately into somber ends. Pamela emigrates to the United States at the story's end to escape trouble and be near her father, a pilot who is imprisoned after being captured by the DEA for transporting cocaine to the United States by plane; he ends up working as a maid but tells Brenda he is happy. Olivia is jailed for orchestrating a sham wedding with Braulio Bermudez and for securing some of his properties. Violeta dies as the rival mafias move to end their ongoing war. Renata dies after Erick forces her to pay a debt by carrying drugs into the United States in her body, while none of her loved ones know because she lacks identification. Brenda becomes pregnant by Braulio, but never sees him again as he is sent to a U.S. jail. This gripping saga underscores how an apparently easy life can unravel into tragedy and serves as a cautionary tale about choices that seem attractive at first.
