The Phil Silvers Show

The Phil Silvers Show, initially titled You'll Never Get Rich, is a classic CBS sitcom that aired from 1955 to 1959, totaling 142 episodes plus a 1959 special. The series stars Phil Silvers as Master Sergeant Ernest G. Bilko of the United States Army. Created and largely written by Nat Hiken, the program earned three consecutive Emmy Awards for Best Comedy Series. In reruns and syndication, the show is commonly referred to as Sergeant Bilko or simply Bilko, a naming convention echoed by audiences and often used on-screen. The series' success transformed Silvers from a journeyman comedian into a star, and Nat Hiken, a writer-producer, from a highly regarded behind-the-scenes comedy writer into a publicly recognized creator.
