The Proud Princess
A warmly human and uplifting tale about a noble princess, whose amiable yet ineffectual father is memorably portrayed by S. Neumann, and a virtuous, principled young king who longs to win her heart and wed her. When she rejects him out of caprice, he resolves to help her become a better person. He secretly takes a position as a gardener at her castle, quietly guiding her toward greater understanding and tenderness. The story follows the reformed princess and the prince, whose true identity she later discovers, as they must flee from troops sent by her aging father, who acted on the advice of ill-conceived counselors. They find shelter among several ordinary, poor families who remain wonderfully welcoming and lend their aid. And, as always, the tale ends happily.
