The Rifleman

The Rifleman is an American Western television series led by Chuck Connors as rancher Lucas McCain and Johnny Crawford as his son, Mark McCain. Set in the 1880s in North Fork, New Mexico Territory, the show was filmed in black-and-white and delivered in half-hour installments. It aired on ABC from September 30, 1958 to April 8, 1963 and was produced by Four Star Television. Among early prime-time dramas, The Rifleman stands as one of the first series to depict a widowed parent raising a child.
