The Tuskegee Airmen
During the Second World War, the US Army Air Corps launched a dedicated initiative to integrate African American pilots into the Fighter Pilot Program. These pilots would come to be known as the Tuskegee Airmen, a designation drawn from the airbase where their training took place. They endured relentless harassment, pervasive prejudice, and covert political maneuvering, until they finally demonstrated their prowess in combat.
