The Undamaged
The Balkans cradle Europe's last wild rivers, sustaining abundant wildlife and intact, thriving ecosystems. These waterways are known as 'The Undamaged'—clean, pristine, and undammed. With more than 2,700 hydro power plants planned or under construction in the Balkans, corruption and greed threaten Europe’s remaining free-flowing rivers. The Balkan Rivers Tour follows a boisterous crew of whitewater kayakers, filmmakers, photographers, and friends who choose to defend these rivers. Spanning 36 days from Slovenia to Albania, they paddle 23 rivers across 6 countries to protest the dams and reveal the Balkans’ hidden wild rivers to the world. The film honors everyday people and local activists who fight to defend rivers, and it champions a fresh, approachable form of nature conservation that is lively, energetic, and effective.
