Thomas & Friends

Thomas & Friends is a beloved British children's television series that first premiered on ITV on 4 September 1984. The program is adapted from The Railway Series of books by Reverend Wilbert Awdry and his son, Christopher Awdry. These volumes chronicle the adventures of a group of anthropomorphised locomotives and road vehicles who inhabit the fictional Island of Sodor. The stories originated from Wilbert Awdry’s tales told to entertain his son during his recovery from measles. From Series 1 through Series 4, many narratives are based on events from Awdry's personal experiences.
