Top Gear: The Perfect Road Trip

The aim is to select the ideal mode of transport for each leg of a pilgrimage from Venice, Italy to Pau, France — home to a legendary street circuit and the birthplace of Grand Prix racing. Along the way we warm up by taking to the Monza track, the heart of Italian Formula One. We seek to stand out on Monaco's road course behind the wheels of a Bugatti, a Lamborghini and a Model T Ford. After cruising Venice's canals, we take to the tarmac and the outlook looks promising, powered by the Ferrari F12 Berlinetta and the Mercedes SLS Black. Add in a Pagani Huayra, a Porsche Cayman S and a GT3, as well as the Aston Martin Vanquish Centenary Edition, Bentley V8 Convertible, Rolls-Royce Phantom Coupé and the head-turning BAC Mono — all of it feels pretty close to perfect to us.
