Martin Bohm, a widowed, single father, struggles to connect with his autistic, mute 11-year-old son, Jake. Their relationship and their lives take an extraordinary turn when he discovers that Jake possesses a gift: the ability to see things that no one else can and to recognize the patterns that connect seemingly unrelated events.
