Two City Girls

To await her lover Fan Chun-tak's completion of studies in Australia, Tang Sau-man serves as a governess in the home of Chui Shek-wah, Fan's brother-in-law. Chui spoils his wife Fan Kam-ping, who grows lazy and dependent on Tang. When Fan completes his studies and returns, he resolves to transform his elder sister. He enlists his confidant Pang Shui-ha, who secretly harbors affection for Fan, to persuade her. Pang uses the opportunity to draw close to Fan. Tang had believed that once Fan returned, she would no longer have to live in somebody's shelter. Instead, Fan spends all his time with Pang. Tang grows unhappy, drinks to ease the ache, and is cared for by Chui when drunk. However, Pang suspects impropriety in their relationship and ejects Tang from the house. Tang falls down a slope and loses a leg. Fan, wracked with remorse, resolves to marry Tang. Pang, realizing her mistake, decides to reform her own lazy nature and takes on the duty of caring for the disabled Tang.
