Two Homelands

Kenji Amo is a second-generation Japanese-American. Born in the United States, he pursued his schooling in Japan before returning to America to study at UCLA. He now works as a reporter for a newspaper serving the Little Tokyo district of Los Angeles. Charlie Tamiya, a fellow UCLA alumnus, shares Kenji's past and path. Charlie harbors feelings for Nagiko, who is employed alongside Kenji at the same newspaper. Aware of this, Kenji experiences tangled emotions of his own. Meanwhile, Nagiko's friend Emi Hatanaka asks Kenji to marry her. He accepts, but the onset of the Pacific War shifts everything, altering the course of Kenji Amo's life.
