Boyd must team up with a new colleague of equal rank, Detective Superintendent Sarah Cavendish, a high-flyer who has recently been grounded by a hushed-up failed operation. When the empty, abandoned car of banker Donald Rees is discovered three years after his disappearance, Boyd decides to take on the case to help the man's family find closure in their lives.
