Although she lives comfortably in Salon-de-Provence, a picturesque town in the south of France, Julie has been feeling depressed for some time. Determined to cheer her up, Philippe Abrams, a postal administrator and her husband, goes to any length to secure a transfer to a seaside town on the French Riviera. The problem is that he is caught in the act while attempting to deceive an inspector. Philippe is then abruptly sent to the remote and little-known town of Bergues, in the far north of France...
