White Bim Black Ear
A moving tale about a white Gordon Setter with a black ear who becomes homeless after his master's illness. His master, Ivan Ivanovich, a man well past youth with a love for hunting and nature, took a puppy to live with him, despite the dog's black ear being deemed a 'shame of nature' for the breed. The man took his dog, whom he calls Bim or Bimka, on country hunting trips. Eventually Ivan Ivanovich's heart grows weak and, as the illness worsens, he is taken to a hospital. Unable to bear waiting for the one person who ever cared for him, his dog sets out to find his master. Thus begins the story of a homeless dog and his many breathtaking and exciting adventures, encounters with many people, both kind and evil, and it leads to an unexpected and heart-rending end.
