Xiu Xiu: The Sent-Down Girl
In 1975, a young teen named Xiu Xiu is sent to a distant corner of the Sichuan steppes for manual labor, a practice tied to the Cultural Revolution in China. A year later, she agrees to travel to an even more secluded locale with a Tibetan saddle tramp named Lao Jin to learn the craft of horse herding.
